“ I was in Hartford for work and the staff highly recommended I try Sun Splash for lunch. I asked for recommendations when ordering and although all the suggestions sounded amazing, I went with the Vegetable Stew. It was absolutely amazing. Cooked to perfection and seasoned just right, too! The portion was huge. I ate more than I should have because I just couldn't stop AND I brought home leftovers that would make 2 more meals. I will definitely be back when I'm in the area. ”
“ The food was oh so good. I have been looking for a good Jamaican spot for years! My friend suggested this place as she was a frequent customer and knew the staff. I asked the staff how they prepared their food as I don't eat gluten. She informed me many of the items with gravy are prepared with corn starch and not flour or soy sauce. (I've learned some folks will use bouillon cubes or certain sauces in their dishes which may contain soy so it's best to ask). I originally ordered pepper steak but they were out so I went with oxtails. The food came out hot and ready to consume. It didn't need any extra seasoning or spice, okay maybe some pepper sauce just because ;) I was definitely satisfied with the meal and would return. I waited to do this review a few days later and it's safe to say, I didn't have any irritation from the food given this is not a gluten free restaurant. Next time, I'm in for the pepper steak!! ”
“ I heard about Sun Splash years ago but never got around to trying their food until yesterday. My mom, bf and myself made our way their around 3:30 and we're quickly greeted and seated by who I believe is the owner. We browsed the menu and decided on jerk wings as an appetizer and 3 rum punches. We then placed our orders for the main course. I opted for brown stew fish, my bf stew chicken, and my mom butter shrimp with a side of bammy. We sipped on the rum punch and ate the wings which were cooked perfectly and had just enough jerk seasoning. Our food came about 15 minutes later and everything looked amazing and tasted as good as it looked. My fish was stewed and seasoned to perfection. I was able to try my moms shrimp and it was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the rum punch. This restaurant is authentic Caribbean cooking at its best! ”
